Danish Melodi Grand Prix 1966
My surname is as usual misspelled.
Here ending on ph, otherwise it was on ff.
For the benefit of the photographers I should give Ulla Pia a kick in her behind, so she would enter the stage as a winner.Dario Campeotto should on the 5. of February compete with the song Heart to heart at Tivolis Concerthall, he asked to get me on the drums. It was granted by Denmarks TV.
The Hitmakers should that week perform at Africano in Esbjerg. So wednesday, thursday and friday morning, I had to grap a taxi to Billund, then the airplane to Kastrup, another taxi to The Radiohall, to practise with The Melodi Grand Prix-Band. In the afternoon I returned to Esbjerg, to perform with The Hitmakers in the evening.
I'd hired drums in Esbjerg, so I could use my own in Copenhagen.
I arrived to The Radiohall tired and long-bearded, dressed in jeans and leather jacket. The conductor Arne Lamberth welcomed me and showed me where to set up my drumset. While I was doing that, they would play the number a couple of times, so I could learn it by heart. I asked him to play by note, and there 30 musicians look astonished on me. After been playing Heart to heart 4 times without a failure from me, a young rock-musician became accepted by the older musicians. Anyway the song wasn't too complicated.I can't remember who suggested the idea, that I should be soloist together with Dario; but suddenly the tape measure was there for a suit compared to Dario. It was a funny feeling to be on stage 5 metre from the orchestra pit, the sound becamed a little delayed. But I got accustomed to that, during the rehearsal in Tivolis Concerthall.
The journalists, the muscians and the TV-staff backed us to win; but it became Ulla Pia with the song Stop while the play is best, while we unfortunately ended up last.
In Copenhagen we played at Star Club -Hit House and Le Carousell on weekdays, photo taken at Le Carousell.
In Weekends at Gladsaxe Teen-Club - Soeborg Teen-Club - Lyngby Teen-Club - Blue Star Club, Ballerup. - Broendby Pop Club, in which a young Hans Otto Bisgaard was one of the leaders.

Even Joergens boots are Opart.
I was one of the first Rock'n'Roll studio muscians, and I also tried to make filmmusic. It was Kim Marott who composed some of the music to the film "Naboerne"in 1966.
It was fun to play watching the screen without sound. Here you can see the start of the film, it starts with the drums.
To the left a frontpage from the paper TOP POP 1966.
Torben Sardorf (Hitmakers) - Peter Belli (Rivalerne) - Rudolph Hansen (Defenders) - Ole Bredahl (Sir Henry) - John Andersen (Rocking Ghost).
Above a photo from the music-paper Boerge from July 1966 some of the most popular groups on that time. The Hitmakers - The Defenders - Peter Belli & Les Rivals and Joe E. Carter's Group.
SBA had by now so many bands to promote, and when they want to raise the commission from 10% to 20%, we wanted to get out.
The 1. of September 1966 we changed personal manager, from SBA / Niels Wenkens to Bendix Music / Arne Worsoee and Erik Thomsen.
The 17. of November 1966 we went on a 12 days tour to England.
On the two days off we had, we were guided round in sly places in London by The Tremeloes, who just broked up with Brian Poole.
In their record studio we recorded So much in love by Mick Jagger & Keith Richard, and Love me baby.
I was famous for my drumsolo.
Unfortunately it has never been recorded.
But I found a videoclip from The KB Hall's 50 years anniversary in 1988. Hitmakers, are performing 20 years after we stopped. Considering that, I think the other 3 made an excellent job.
Our roadie from the Beatles concert Ib Stjernekilde, recorded it with a very big and heavy videocamera with a mike on. So there will be some shakings. But sound and pictures are acceptable.
I made a clip of the video, so here you see and hear a medley:
"Twist & Shout", "Do you wanna dance", "I saw her standing there" ending with a "drumsolo".
