This site is dedicated to my good freind Melvis (Ivan Haki Haagensen), who I played with in 1963 and again from 1973 - 94.

Melvis and his Gentlemen

Hans Pindborg - Jesper Halberg - Lars Kofoed - Torben Sardorf - Jan Lindén - Melvis

At the start it was Jan Lindén and Hans Pindborg on guitar and Lars Kofoed on bass.

In 1980 Steen Hansen(guitar) replaced Jan og Hans, and in 1988 Rudolph Hansen(bass) replaced Hans Frellesvig.
In 1989 Mogens "Django Petersen replaced Steen, who began in The Cliffters, where Rudolph also began a couple of month later.

Under the name Melvis and his Gentlemen, we had changing crew through those 21 years; but with a solid staff, consisting of Jesper Halberg on tenorsax, Melvis as singer and on Hammondorgan, and me on the drums.

Melvis also tooked part in Erik Klausen's movie "Rockin' Silver".
We performed several times on TV, e.g. at Joergen Mylius in Stardust together with Grethe Ingemann.
And in the program Elevatoren, that was broadcast one night from the 'Six-Day Bicycle Race' at Forum.

Torben at Thule Air Base in front of Open Mess - Greenland 1986

We went five times to Thule Air Base, with changing crews. The last time was in November 1990, it wasn't too fun, because of darkness day and night. I could feel on Melvis, that he was losing the heart to perform. From 1991 to 1994 he got more and more depressed, and in spite of trying to courage him to go on, little by little the spirit to perform disappeared. But he had put his mark on Danish Rock'n'Roll and will for me stand as that pioneer, who lasted and always believed in it.
He'd never compromised, and for that he was punished by the business.
Ivan and I had an agreement, never to prostitute ourself considering music, as many of our colleques does and had done.

We worked seriously, but under friendly conditions at Ole Erling Studio.

A very young Steen Hansen at the time he started in Melvis Rockband 1980.

Jeg har prøvet meget, men aldrig at blive hejst op i en container af en kran. Det var en af Jesper Halberg's bekendte der havde sølvbryllup. De blev noget overraskede, da et orkester spillede lige ud for deres vinduer på 3. sal.
