The Rookeys
Joergen Gamst - Torben Sardorf - J.Woodfoot.
Stig Madsen - Ole NielsenThe Rookeys started in Broenshoej-Husum Youthclub 1960. Me and Joergen "Woodfoot" joined the band 1962. Joergen got his nickname "Woodfoot" cause when we practised the new constellation, he was limping around with a foot in a cast. I replaced Joergen Gamst on the drums, then he began to play the bass. Joergen "Woodfoot" replaced Hans Andersen on guitar.
After some move about, where Niller Schougaard replaced Stig Madsen and Ole Nielsen on guitar and singing, I became the bandleader. After that I was in command with all the booking.
I got a record-contract with Sonet, and we recorded with Gustav Winckler as the producer, the titles "La Paloma" and "My Blue Heaven".With tha last title we did a performance in Otto Leisner's TV - broadcast Pladeparade, Bo Bendixen made the choreogrpahic.
Places of performance:
Youthclubs - specially Broenshoej - Husum Youthclub - Siesta in Glostrup - Granada in Sjaellandsgade - Clubballs - Geels Kro Holte - Oelandshus on Amager - Figaro on Bakken (later on called Place Pigalle) - Jomfruburet on Stroeget.

In the autumn 1962 Niller broke his right arm doing armwrestling, in Air Bar on H.C. Andersens Boulevard . After that episode he no longer played the guitar, but was only singing. That layed a great burden instrumentally, on the other three of us. The atmosphere in the bande wasn't too good. The quarrels tooked place more often.
In december 1962 we were playing at Jomfruburet, a restaurant in the pedestrianized street. I got a call which caused my last evening with The Rookeys.
