A little rest in Sweden
Ole - Kate - Mogens - Bjarne - LarsBjarne and I joined The Cliffters in May 1963, when Johnny Reimar and Jan Pedersen left to start The Scarlets.
We were practising in Lars Kofoed parents cellar in Soeborg. We recorded a single for Philips, and made our first appearance in Jomfruburet, before we in June went on a tour to Sweden.
The van are loaded before the long trip to Sweden
Unfortunately I dont have TV- performance from that time.
So here you can see a TV-recording from Sommerlyst at Bakken in 1985,
from Claus Hagen Petersens "Danish Rockhistory" on DR.
With Johnny Reimar, Torben Sardorf, Mogens "Django" Petersen, Lars Kofoed og Ole Rasmussen.
4 of the members in those days.
Unfortunately Mogens was sick that day, so we made it as playback to the original "Django".
So I mimed to Jans drums.
Sundsvall Public Park and we're performing.
The photo is too dark; but it's the only one i got.We performed in 10 different Public Parks. The southernmost was Sundsvall, and the northernmost Tärendä, which is placed 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. Here we performed for about 20.000 people at Midsummer Evening. For the first time I didn't saw the sun sets.
A while after the arrival to Denmark, Lars and Ole left the band.
We had an arrangement for whole August month in Kastrup-Rauchel, suburb of Dortmund in Germany. We got a new bass- and pianoplayer: Mogens Max Larsen and good old Melvis. We performed by turns with a Dutch band named Die Javelins.
Mogens tooked care of all the booking and tooked an extra charge for that and as driver for the band. I wasn't used to that sort of thing, in all other bands I've been involved, we devided it into equal parts - no matter the efforts. But not in The Cliffters.
Before we left for Germany, Joergen Krabbenhoeft from The Hitmakers asked me, if I would like to join them. I really liked their style and I knew Steen Bergstroem from my school days. The bass player had to join the Army in October so I talked Bjarne into replacing the guitar with the bass .
